Apostolic Church of Queensland Victoria Chaplaincy
The objective of an Apostolic Church is to bring all to the Grace of Jesus Christ to reconcile a people again to God, and to be led in childlike faith by the Holy Ghost to be prepared as a Bride at His return in power and glory which is near at hand.
Our History and Mission
The Apostolic Church of Queensland stands within the nineteenth‑century movement that sought the restoration of the Apostle Ministry and the renewal of the Church’s original order, guided also by prophetic gifts. Emerging from the same spiritual currents that shaped the Catholic Apostolic Church in Britain and Europe, the Apostolic Church of Queensland is founded on the conviction that God is once again calling and commissioning Apostles for the edification and preparation of the whole Church. The ministerial gifts described in Ephesians 4:11–16, Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers, are understood as enduring ministries intended to remain active until the Church reaches full maturity.
This conviction inspired a strong missionary impulse. In the late 1800s, early apostolic missionary work connected with Queensland contributed to the formation of several major Apostolic bodies in South Africa. Under Apostle Carl George Klibbe, the Old Apostolic Church of Africa took shape; under Apostle Schlaphoff, the New Apostolic Church developed; and under Apostle Velde, the Apostolic Church emerged, later becoming part of the Apostolic Church – Apostle Unity in South Africa under the care of Apostle Erasmus. Although these churches followed distinct historical paths, they share a common origin in the same apostolic revival.
Renewed Revelation and Mission Since the 1990s
From the early 1990s onward, the Apostolic Church experienced a renewed sense of divine calling. Through dreams, visions, and prophetic revelations, the Apostles and communities were encouraged to undertake further evangelistic work in new regions. In response to these spiritual promptings, many communities around the world reached out, seeking to serve under the pastoral care of the Apostolic Church of Queensland.
This period of growth saw the formation of the United Apostolic Church Philippines, the Unity Apostles Church of New Zealand, the United Apostolic Church of Canada, and further United Apostolic Churches in Ukraine, Myanmar, Pakistan, India, Kenya, Angola, Japan, Thailand, and Nepal. Numerous smaller communities have likewise been gathered and nurtured under the care of the Apostles.
A Continuing Presence in Europe
Alongside these developments, Apostolic communities continue to flourish across Europe, particularly in the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, and France, where the restored apostolic ministry has maintained a longstanding presence and spiritual influence.
A Worldwide Fellowship
Apostles affiliated with the Worldwide Unity of Apostles of Apostolic Churches labour under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, upholding the restored apostolic ministry and its commitment to building up the body of Christ. United by a shared heritage and a common hope, these communities work together under the care of the Apostles to gather the faithful, strengthen the Church, and prepare God’s people for the return of the Lord.
